How did this new album and overall concept for it come about, and what are your ultimate goals with it?

All my music is for me a journey. I have an overall idea for each track but in truth i let the music reveal itself to me as i go along. This might sound a bit flakey but i approach my music as i do my painting always prepared for the happy accident then seeing where that takes me. Long ago I decided I would not be hemmed in by the limitations others try to impose on me so now I mix and match using Asian, African and Latin with Rock Jazz and Soul.

This cd, "Beyond" is the third in a trilogy; the culmination of my musical journey so far, and is a turning point. With this album I feel I have finally found my sound and I want to expose it to the public in every format available.

Who are some of your current favorite artists, Smooth Jazz or otherwise?

There are so many, a few are Zero 7, Air, Courtney Pine, David Sanbourn, Thievery Corporation, Pat Matheney & David Gilmore

Going back in your life as far as you can remember, what song or performance is the first you recall hearing and being affected by?

I can't answer that in the singular. First hearing Hendrix doing "Hey Jo" then Stanly Clarke doing "School Days" and Grover Washington, Jr. doing Marvin Gaye's "Whats Going On."

What’s your favorite non-music activity?

Apart from being a musician i am also an artist; both traditional and digital, so if I'm not making music I'm painting. However, what really gets my juices going outside of music is when I can combine both traditional art and digital art together.

How would you describe what inspires you to do what you do?

This is the fundamental question for me. Firstly, I have no other choice but to paint and make music; it's who I am it's what defines me and what gives reason for me being here. I have no set religious beliefs. I have looked at and studied most religions and while I have found truths in all of them none have had that defining influence on me.

For me, we all have a path to tread and we have to find our own answers. Religious teachings can help and inspire but it's not something you can learn from a book. First, you have to feel it then you have to be it.

Well in my case, I came to that path through music. For me music is spiritual; you tap into something outside of yourself. Some people meditate, some pray, I make music and paint and lastly the arts are my voice; my way of trying to comunicate with others to set up a dialogue.

What’s your absolute favorite part of the World, and why?

The country that resides within all of us because until we can be at peace with ourselves we can never be at peace with others. Until we learn to chart and understand our own landscape we will never understand that we are all just a part of the same landscape.
