Three decades after Jayson Tipp launched and began recording with his popular San Diego based fusion band Under the Lake, he’s enjoyed newfound success regrouping with the band for three albums while also emerging as an increasingly popular solo artist in Smooth Jazz. Having dropped a popular debut album and a batch of engaging singles since 2023, the versatile keyboardist/composer’s latest track, the playfully titled tune “Redhead I Know,” a song he wrote for his wife, offers his trademark elegant and melodic piano magic, as well as adventurous, synth harmonies over a laid back groove that becomes funkier at times, highlighting deeper musical passion and emotion.
