What elements do you look for in a song that makes it especially satisfying for you to perform?
The intent of the song is very important to me. Lyrics that sing themselves without a melody.

Of your touring and gigs so far in your career, do any stand out as being particularly memorable or defining moments?
When I sang at the White House for 3 separate administrations. And when I recently sang on stage at the 87th Oscars with John Legend and Common on "Glory."
Going back in your life as far as you can remember, what song or performance is the first you recall hearing and being affected by?
When I went to the Shrine Auditorium to see James Brown. I was screaming my head off and dancing in the isles.
What’s your absolute favorite part of the World, and why?
The South of France! Because of the culture, art, cuisine, music and the people!
If you were magically allowed to spend an hour with whomever you chose in history… alive or dead… and really be able to get inside their head, who would that be?
President Barak Obama!!
What aspect of the creative process, from concept to market, do you personally find to be the most rewarding?
Being in the recording studio singing & producing what I’ve conceived…watching it come to fruition!
