How did this new album and overall concept for it come about, and what are your ultimate goals with it?

I like writing about life stories, and when I wrote the songs for Change Coming, I was feeling a pull to leave a successful career in the tech industry to pursue my passion, music.

The title track reflects my journey. I was also reflecting on relationships that hadnít gone the way I expected. All the songs have a sense of seeking personal change in different ways, and the common thread in the songs is love.

There are some fun songs, too! Change Coming is my debut solo album, and my goal is to reach listeners who can appreciate a fresh approach to adult contemporary pop.

What do you find to be the most challenging aspect of recording a new album?

Performing and recording my own songs is like a dream come true. I absolutely love it. The project had many challenges, but I think the most important were conveying an honest and heartfelt vocal performance and getting the mix just right. It all took a bit longer than expected, but I was very satisfied with the result.

How would you describe what inspires you to do what you do?

As a kid, I was always humming new melodies and bass lines in my head. I would sit down on my momís piano and come up with tunes, and later lyrics. My major in college was music. I guess music has always been a part of me. Itís like a force from within that needs to be expressed. Iím also inspired by everyday life going on around me.

What artists do you feel akin to or in the same tribe with?

Some people say my sound on Change Coming remind them of Steely Dan, Boz Scaggs, Todd Rundgren, Michael McDonald and Ben Folds. Not bad company at all!

Who would you say has been the single biggest influence in your life in getting you to where you are now in your career?

Iíd have to say my dad. Before he passed in 2012, we had the greatest conversations about life and music. He came to my concerts and was so supportive of my wanting to follow my passion and give my music career my full attention. I feel extremely grateful for that nod of approval.

What are your favorite non-music activities?

Having a glass of wine with friends. I also enjoy working out and hiking.
