How did this new album and overall concept for it come about, and what are your ultimate goals with it?
Talking with Brian Bromberg inspired me to get the ball rolling and record an album that would come from the heart and represent where I am as a player in my life right now. My goals are simple…to put a smile on people’s faces when they listen, enjoy performing the music live and look forward to the next project!
How would you describe what inspires you to do what you do?
My inspiration comes from my family. Being a husband and father keeps me grounded along with giving me the motivation to become the best musician I can be.
What in your life outside of your music drives you in a creative sense?
My family and friends give me the inspiration I need to move forward as an artist. Life experiences and relationships help give me the direction I need to keep the creative process alive.
When the times arise for you give back for the success and abundance you enjoy, what kinds of opportunities do you look for?
Being involved with students and music is very important to me. Clinics and workshops are an incredible way to motivate students and show them the positivity and importance of music in our lives.
What would your top “desert island” classic albums be, regardless of genre… the albums you turn to time after time for your own personal enjoyment and inspiration?
Cannonball Adderly – Somethin’ Else
What would be the most important piece of advice you’d impart to a young musician just starting out in the jazz/smooth jazz arena?
Practice hard, listen to all kinds of music and most of all, play for the love of music.
