Thanks for listening to us! We’re glad we work for you in the office...

Sandy,

Same song in less than 2 hours? Sandy, Sandy! That just shows me why I wander around the net from hour to hour looking for what is most interesting to listen to. Miss the old days!

Bob White

Specifics, Bob, please... What song played twice? Name and artist please. We play some 5000 songs in our playlist, it’s not easy for us to play the same song in 2 hours unless something failed in our scheduling software.

I look forward to hearing back from you on the specific song that played twice in less than 2 hours.

Thanks,
Sandy

M.R.Visakapriyan

Hi there,

Thanks for your email and for your nice words. We do all kinds of things here... From listening to LOTS of new music every week, adding the songs we think make the most sense for us and uploading them to our audio servers. Plus, we have team members who do programming and technical development and others who program the music and make it flow smoothly and then there’s the visual aspect of the company, which requires high end graphic design...

I hope this answers your question.

Sandy Shore

Hey there,

We are a young couple from Slovak Republic studying at University in Sydney, Australia and we listen to smoothjazz.com every evening.

Since we are overseas full fee paying students with limitations to work we can not afford to donate, however we love your music very much and
would like you to thank you for the fantastic music and the quality 128 kb/s bit rate you deliver now for five years.

We hope that soon we'll earn 'big bugs' and we'll be more then happy to support you financially, for now, we cherish your work very much.

All the best!

Julius & Silvia

Hi Julius & Silvia,

Thanks for the note... We really appreciate you listening while you study!

Don’t worry about donating, just keep listening — That’s support enough for us while you learn.

Oh, and by the way, it’s “big bucks” not “bugs,” but we love that too!!

Best,
Sandy

Hey guys and gals,

You no longer seem to be at 101.7 on my dial. What happened? I love your work. Are you somewhere else on the Albuquerque dial?

Thanks,

Greg

Hi Greg,

We’re not aware of your station going off the air. Sorry to hear about it. Please be sure to listen to Smoothjazz.com Radio on your computer for a deep mix of Smooth Jazz... We’re here for all of the cities that don’t have Smooth Jazz radio stations throughout the U.S. and the world!

Hello from Romania,

I've found your station three years ago, searching for good music on-line. You're doing a great job there. I listen to SJ.com, like most of the others, at work.(too bad i don't have such bandwidth at home) The tunes you play help me to relax and focus better. Hey, I saw you from up above through G..... Earth software. It's great that now I can make an image of your setting. I bet there are stunning evenings with the sun coming down in the ocean, listening to smoothjazz.com.

Good job guys! Greetings from Romania!

Dragos

Hi Dragos!

Thanks for listening in Romania... We are very happy to hear from you.. Keep listening!

I like smooth jazz. Please do not play soul, pop, rock, or other genres of music on your smooth jazz station. For some reason, smooth jazz programmers think that if an artist is black, that he fits in the smooth jazz category. Stevie Wonder is not smooth jazz. Lionel Richie is not smooth jazz.

Whenever a smooth jazz radio station starts to play other genres of music (to try to increase their listener base), they are pretty much reformatting their station within a few months. Either be a smooth jazz station or don't, but please don't dilute the music with other types of music if you claim to be a smooth jazz station.

Randy

Hi Randy,

Thanks for the email. We don’t play Lionel Richie... So I'm not sure this letter is intended for Smoothjazz.com Radio. We do play some Stevie Wonder as we think his album tracks are really awesome and fit nicely in the mix...

Smooth Jazz is not a pure format of music, it is a blend of jazz, pop, world fusion and other forms of music. It was originally called New Adult Contemporary before being labeled Smooth Jazz. It’s a hybrid format... That’s why you hear an infusion from some of the stations..

Hi,

When starts smoothjazz.com with podcasting? So it's easier to listen to smooth jazz on the road on my mp3 player. There are not so much real smooth jazz podcasts so it's more than appreciate when you start with it and also the other stations smoothlounge.com.

I hope you can email me an answer on my question.

Thanks.

Regards,

Erwin

Hi Erwin,

We hope to offer Podcasts in the new year. Thanks for asking!

hi SmoothJazz people:

I love smoothjazz.com ... its fabulous / wonderful ... great music to work to, without overpowering and without being "demanding".

(I also enjoy listening to demanding music, but only when I have a chance to *listen* while doing nothing but listening.)

enuf praise tho' ... this email is about the following dilemma....

----

I can't stand smoothjazz.com's endless replays of some tracks that god-only-knows-why have not been taken off the playlist by now. Enough already !!!

Its gotten to the point that every time you play tracks like Ronny Jordon's After 8, and Alex Zonjic's Leave it to Me, I tear my hair and run for the computer up in the other end of the house from my office to change the station. (I pipe music from my sound system throughout the house with hi-end copper that costs much more than the sound system components).

So in short, while 97% what you play is fabulous, the remaining 3% of replays of tracks that I've heard a bazzillion times before have finally forced me to stop listening. (Its become too distracting from my work to have to run to the other end of the house and back ad infinitum).

Surely I am not alone in expressing this frustration !?

Any comments / suggestions of how I might avoid such frustrations would be appreciated.

(e.g. Would making a financial contribution *guarantee* that you stop all those damned replays !! ?? ).

cheers for now.

- rob d

Hi Robert,

Sounds to me like it's more than 3% that's bothering. I would never stop doing something if only 3% of the situation was disturbing. Heck, I'd be single for the rest of my life by that standard. :-)

I’m forwarding your email to our programming dept. I don’t know how it is that we reply these songs so often when we have over 6,000 songs in our music library. We do struggle a bit with our music scheduling software and it refuses to schedule some songs and not others and while it’s only software, seems to have it’s favorites which apparently are the Ronny Jordan and Alexander Zonjic tracks that you love so much.

Supporting Internet Radio is always helpful... To answer your question. We’re a growing medium and truly pioneers of this technology. We’re a small organization and we do our very best to please all of our listeners. Hopefully you’ll be patient with us as we grow.

Best Always,

Sandy Shore - President
