Keith Mason

How did this new album and overall concept for it come about, and what are your ultimate goals with it?

This album represents my passion for music and my personal relationship with Jesus Christ. The songs along with their titles are an inspiration from the Holy Spirit. A scriptural reference is attached to each song, directing the listener to the passage in the Bible. My prayer is to engage listeners musically, but also spiritually and intellectually.

What instrument is your specialty and how did you learn how to play it?

The bass is my specialty instrument. Being left handed and self-taught, I taught myself how to play right handed. I play mainly by ear.

Outside of your musical career, what else in your life gets you excited and fulfilled?

My grandkids...they are a joy and they bring me great joy. At 52 years young they keep me young and full of life.

What are some of the most important goals you have for yourself in the next five to ten years?

First and foremost, retire from the federal government. Secondly, pay off my mortgage then launch my professional jazz music career and play on stage live with some of the musical legends/greats.

At what point in your life did you make the decision to become a professional musician and actually record your own albums?

I started with the drums in the sixth grade however I later developed a passion for the bass at age 14. Currently with three CDs recorded I recorded my first CD in 2007.

What’s your absolute favorite part of the World, and why?

I’ve traveled to over 50 different countries and “truth be told” there is no other place in the world like the States. Hands down, the States is my favorite part of the world. That said, my favorite place in the world is Greece…Santorini, it had one of the most beautiful sunsets I’ve ever seen.
